The Connecticut Lottery (CLC) games are designed to be entertainment for adults 18 and older. We want our players to keep it fun, keep it safe and keep it reasonable when engaging with our products. That includes concepts like knowing your limits of time and money.

The CT Lottery has a three-pronged approach to Responsible Gambling (RG):

  1. We develop our products specifically for adults (must be 18+ to play);
  2. We strive to educate the public about making healthy choices when it comes to gambling through responsible gambling campaigns; and,
  3. We educate the public about the Problem Gambling Helpline (text and chat too) so that if a player, or a loved one, needs help s/he can directly be connected to professional support.

Anyone who gambles can develop a problem.  It is so important to be aware of the risks and to gamble in a responsible way.  We offer the following tips to help you stay within safe limits:

  • Gambling is never a solution to any problem. Gambling should always be for entertainment purposes only.
  • Never rely on or expect gambling winnings for any reason. Never gamble with more money than you can afford to lose.
  • Never use gambling as a coping mechanism. If you are suffering from anxiety, depression, anger, sadness, any heightened emotional state, or any professional or personal problems, do not gamble.
  • Always set time and money limits before you start to gamble and adhere to those limits. Never believe that increasing your bets or gambling longer will improve your odds of winning or recovering gambling losses.
  • Never give in to pressure to gamble by friends, colleagues, family, or others. If you do not feel comfortable gambling in general or in a particular situation, do not participate.
  • If you know that you have an addictive personality or suffer from any other addictions (drugs, alcohol, etc.), do not gamble.
